Denarius (Subaeratus, 17 mm, 3.00 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation of an issue from a military mint traveling with Mark Antony and Lepidus in Transalpine Gaul, after 43 BC. M•ANT•IMP Lituus, jug and raven. Rev. M•LEPID•COS•IMP Priestly implements: simpulum, aspergillum, securis with wolf's head at the top, and apex. Cf. Babelon (Antonia) 10 and (Aemilia) 27, Crawford 489/2, RBW 1709 and Sydenham 1156 (for prototype). A very well made contemporary imitation of this rare type. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
